SkinVive by Juvéderm is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid microdroplet injectable designed to improve skin smoothness and hydration in the cheeks of adults over 21. SkinVive by Juvéderm® opens a fourth category — an injectable focused entirely on skin quality.
SkinVive is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid (HA) microdroplet injectable, indicated to improve cheek skin smoothness in adults over 21. Instead of building structure or relaxing movement, SkinVive places a modified HA gel in tiny droplets across the cheek area, where it hydrates from within and softens surface texture. The result is the kind of healthy, glowy, refreshed-looking skin that is hard to achieve with topical skincare alone.
A common question we get at consultation is whether SkinVive is "just another filler." It is not. The distinction matters because the goals are different.

Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule your skin naturally produces. The HA in SkinVive is specifically modified — using Allergan Aesthetics' VYCROSS® technology — to remain in the skin longer than unmodified HA and to deliver hydration where it is needed most.
What makes SkinVive distinct from traditional filler is how it is placed. The product is delivered through an ultrafine needle in a series of microdroplets across the cheek area. Each droplet is positioned within the dermis, spaced closely enough that the HA gel distributes evenly across the cheek skin. Over the days following treatment, the HA fully integrates with surrounding tissue and the treated skin takes on the smoother, more hydrated texture SkinVive is known for.

Your treatment begins with a consultation to confirm SkinVive is the right choice for your skin quality goals. Our injector cleans the cheek area and may apply a topical numbing cream for comfort. Using an ultrafine needle, modified hyaluronic acid is delivered as a series of microdroplets across the cheeks — from the upper cheekbone down toward the jawline — spaced closely so the HA gel distributes evenly. Most appointments take about 15 minutes.
You may notice small bumps or mild swelling at the injection sites for several hours; these typically smooth out within a day or two. Some patients experience minor redness or bruising. Initial smoothness and hydration appear within a few days, with full effect at 2–3 weeks as the HA fully integrates with surrounding tissue. Clinically proven results last up to 6 months, with most patients returning for maintenance once or twice a year.
