truSculpt iD vs CoolSculpting for Non Surgical Fat Removal

truSculpt iD vs. CoolSculpting: Which one is best for you?

For the majority of people in America losing a little fat would probably be seen as a good thing. In fact, there were approximately 64 million Americans that held a gym membership last year.

However, losing pockets of fat in certain areas can be a frustrating experience --- “why aren't these stubborn areas responding to all my hard work?” seems to be a very common theme among gym-goers.

You're following directions but all of your eating well, working out, and doing cardio simply isn’t working...

Body Sculpting will help you maximize all the hard work you put in day after day!

Body Sculpting works by non-surgically targeting specific areas of the body and can be completed a variety of ways, effectively contouring the body area.

So how is it performed?

Body Sculpting has two definitive approaches, invasive and noninvasive.

Invasive fat removal procedures, like Liposuction, were the de facto methods of body contouring in the past. These are relatively simple plastic surgeon procedures that have dramatic results, essentially changing entire silhouettes from one day to the next.

However, there are obvious downsides associated with such dramatic changes, like swelling, discomfort or even infections.

Non-invasive body contouring takes a radically different approach. Instead of rapid changes, non invasive methods use the body's natural functions to get rid of fat.

This usually involves using gentle methods, like low level laser therapy, ultrasound, or Radio Frequency! These different types of energies are applied to fat deposits to disrupt cell function.

The body then proceeds to remove the destroyed cells from the body through natural pathways. In a study published by the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic dermatology:

“44 percent of the patients had more than 75-percent improvement, 32 percent of the patients between 50- to 75-percent improvement, 20 percent of the patients had between 25- to 50-percent improvement and only four percent had less than 25-percent improvement.”

What are your options?

Surgical methods, by definition, are infinitely more invasive than our non surgical procedures.

At Miami Skin Spa no invasive procedures are performed, as we prefer all of our patients leave refreshed and ready to get back to life. Surgical procedures usually do not allow for this.

However, before considering any body contouring, your medical history should be reviewed and discussed with your primary physician. One of our certified nurses will then discuss with you the expectations, outcomes, and risks of the procedures.

truSculpt iD vs CoolSculpting

Even though both offer similar results there are quite a few notable differences.

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting, or cryolipolysis, is a non invasive treatment that freezes off fat cells in targeted areas. Freezing the fat cells causes them to effectively ‘die’ and allows your body to naturally remove them over time.

What is truSculpt ID?

truSculpt iD is the latest body sculpting treatment from Cutera, that provides a personalized, hands-free and hand-held solution to permanent fat reduction and body contouring. It uses several handheld pieces that offer placement versatility and allows for multiple areas to be targeted.

This powerful MonoPolar Radio Frequency platform is tailored to each patients’ individual needs and features. The truSculpt iD treats the entire areas of fat and the deeper layers, resulting in an average of 24% fat reduction with customized 15-minute protocols that can to treat the full abdomen or multiple body areas simultaneously.

How does truSculpt iD compare to CoolSculpting?

Treatment time

With both CoolSculpting and truSculpt iD the targeted areas will be under therapeutic temperature for 15-minutes. However because our body has a resting temperature of between 96 and 99 degrees fahrenheit it doesn't take the truSculpt iD more than 1-2 minutes to reach the required therapeutic temperature of 104 degrees.

Whereas with CoolSculpting that freezes the fat cells, the therapeutic temperature required is much below our resting temperature, which adds significant amount of time to the procedure.

Furthermore CoolSculpting requires 6 post-lymphatic massage sessions, to trigger the destruction of fat cells and to shape the treated areas. This is not necessary with the truSculpt iD.

Comfort Level

The truSculpt iD has been compared by many of our patients to a hot stone massage. The temperature of the skin on and around the treatment area will rise, but not to an uncomfortable level.

With CoolSculpting the feeling is slightly less comfortable. There is a pulling and tugging sensation throughout that is accompanied by pinching and cramping. There is also an intense cold sensation as the treatment area reaches the required therapeutic temperature.

Out of the two CoolSculpting is the more painful treatment and might not be well suited for those with a low pain threshold.

Treatment Effectiveness

Both treatments have a great success rate and can lead to a patients desired results. On average the truSculpt iD leads to 24% fat reduction whereas CoolSculpting leads to a 20-25% reduction in fat.

It's important to note that the average for the truSculpt is not calculated the same as that for CoolSculpting as less patients are candidates and fewer areas can be treated with CS.

The effectiveness of CoolSculpting is largely dependent on the post-treatment lymphatic massages. Most people will require six 45-minute lymphatic massages and the results of the whole treatment is often tied to how well these are performed. So if you do choose CoolSculpting make sure you choose a medical spa with high quality staff and an impressive success record.

truSculpt iD is the only body sculpting treatment on the market that has absolutely no downtime. Post-treatment the area will be warm to the touch and could be flush for about an hour, but daily activities and exercise can be resumed immediately.

With CoolSculpting side effects can include temporary redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, or skin sensitivity.

CoolSculpting can be used on almost every body part, even on the chin. This means you can usually target more than one area at a time.

It’s generally considered a very uncomfortable experience, and pain can persist in the area well after the treatment has finished. It also doesn't treat skin laxity and saggy skin which often gets worse after fat reduction. CoolSculpting also cant be performed on those that need it most, as anyone who has a BMI over 30 is not a qualified candidate. Furthermore those with non pinchable fat are also not candidates.

the truSculpt iD can treat multiple areas at once. It is also very fast as just one 15-minute session constitutes an entire treatment. There is very minimal patient discomfort and zero bruising or swelling.

The only downside with truSculpt iD is that optimal results can take up to 8-12 weeks to appear. However if the iD is combined with the truSculpt fleX results to tend to appear in a third or half the time. This is because the muscle stimulating modes of tension and contraction experienced during the fleX tend to stimulate the lymphatic system which in turn accelerates results. Furthermore, to increase the results one should be throughly hydrated as this is the way the body expels the heated fat cells.

Other Body Sculpting Treatment Options

WarmSculpting uses the SculpSure laser to treat fat. The laser energy heats the fat cells without affecting the skin, and destroys them over course of three months.

The treatment usually has 0 downtime, and has been clinically proven to reduce up to 25% of fat cells in the area.

This treatment usually requires multiple sessions, and only one area can be treated at a time.

EMSculpt offers similar results to other treatments, but it doesn't use laser therapy.

Instead, it uses electric currents to force the muscle to contract very quickly. It attempts to combine muscle sculpting and body sculpting into the same platform. However head-to-head the EMsculpt is a lesser version of the truSculpt fleX.

It is ideal for patients that are not only trying to lose weight, but gain muscle.

EMSculpt cannot reduce large amounts of fat, which means it may not be the correct treatment for everyone. Moreover, the muscle gained may not even show as a result. It may be more effective to use a treatment to specifically loose fat, and then undergo a different treatment to specifically gain muscle, like the truSculpt iD and truSculpt Flex.

How much does truSculpt iD cost?

At Miami Skin Spa we only invest in the machines and technology that yield the best results with the least discomfort. This is why when it comes to body sculpting we only offer the truSculpt iD for fat reduction and the truSculpt fleX for muscle growth.

Body Sculpting prices start at $800 and Muscle Sculpting with the truSculpt fleX starts at $600.
