The details

Everything you'd ask at the consult

Three platforms, one body plan

Body skin collects a different mix of damage than the face — years of sun on the chest and shoulders, age spots on the backs of the hands, post-inflammatory marks on the back, rough or dull texture on the arms and legs. Instead of forcing every concern through a single device, we map each one to the platform built for it:

  • IPL (Lumecca) — pigment and redness across larger areas. Broad-spectrum light pulses are absorbed by melanin in brown spots and hemoglobin in visible vessels, clearing both in the same pass. For scattered sun damage across a wide surface like the décolleté or shoulders, IPL treats the entire area efficiently in one session.
  • PICO Genesis — stubborn pigment and uneven tone. Picosecond pulses delivered in trillionths of a second shatter pigment particles photoacoustically — mechanically rather than by heat alone — which is what makes them effective for deeper, treatment-resistant discoloration, and safer in darker skin tones than older heat-based lasers.
  • Laser Genesis — texture, redness, and overall skin quality. A gentle Nd:YAG laser uniformly warms the upper dermis to stimulate collagen renewal and microcirculation. No lesion targeting, no downtime — a gradual skin-quality reset for the chest, arms, or back over a series.

Why the body is treated differently than the face

Body skin is thicker in some zones and thinner in others, has fewer oil glands, and heals more slowly than facial skin — so energy settings, session spacing, and the number of treatments are all planned per area, not copied from a facial protocol. Pigment on the body also clears more gradually, which is why a consistent series outperforms a single aggressive session. Treating the face too? The same platforms power our Lasers for Face menu, and many clients run both in the same plan.

Sun damage on the chest, shoulders & décolleté

The chest is the most honest record of Miami sun. IPL lifts the scattered sunspots, freckling, and mottled redness that build up across the décolleté and shoulders — the classic sun damage pattern — often with visible change after the first session.

Age spots on the hands, arms & legs

The backs of the hands are one of the most-requested body areas we treat. Light-based age spot removal clears the isolated dark spots that make hands read older than the face, and the same approach works on forearms and lower legs.

Post-acne marks & discoloration on the back

The dark marks left behind after back or shoulder acne are post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation — pigment, not scar tissue — and they respond well to laser clearing, with PICO Genesis preferred for deeper or stubborn marks. Indented scarring is a different problem; our scar removal guide covers when RF microneedling at depth is the better tool.

Texture, crepey skin & redness

Laser Genesis smooths rough texture and diffuse redness while gradually rebuilding collagen — useful on the chest, arms, and back where skin quality has dulled. For stretch marks, lasers can soften the discoloration of newer marks, while the texture component usually calls for Morpheus8 Body — many plans combine the two. And for leg spider veins, we'll tell you plainly when sclerotherapy is the stronger option.

IPL Lumecca — the broad-coverage workhorse

Lumecca by InMode delivers high-intensity pulsed light that targets pigmented and vascular lesions simultaneously — sunspots, freckling, and redness in fewer sessions than older IPL systems. It's our first choice for scattered sun damage across larger body surfaces. Hands, shoulders, neck, or décolleté $300 per session; back $550; full arms $550; full legs $650.

PICO Genesis — the precision tool

PICO Genesis runs on Cutera's enlighten platform, delivering picosecond pulses that shatter stubborn pigment with minimal heat — the choice for treatment-resistant discoloration, isolated spots that need precision, and deeper skin tones where heat-based devices carry more risk. The same picosecond technology powers our tattoo removal. Hands or shoulders $400 per session; back $450; body spot treatment $650.

Laser Genesis — the no-downtime finisher

Laser Genesis on Cutera's excel HR uses a 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser to gently heat the dermis, stimulating collagen and evening tone and texture with zero downtime. On the body it's the maintenance and skin-quality layer — often staged after IPL or PICO has cleared the pigment. From $300 per session.

Three-session packages are discounted on every platform — the full area-by-area menu is on our pricing page, and your consultation ends with an itemized quote, not a range.

Device selection is the safety decision

Body laser safety comes down to matching the device to your skin tone and the concern. Picosecond lasers have published safety data in Fitzpatrick types IV–VI, and Nd:YAG (Laser Genesis) is one of the best-studied wavelengths for deeper complexions; classic IPL works best on fair to medium tones. In deeper skin, the risk we're managing is post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation — exactly why every plan starts with an in-person assessment rather than a default setting.

Comfort during treatment

Protective eyewear is provided for every session. IPL and PICO pulses feel like quick rubber-band snaps — often easier to tolerate on body skin than on the face — and Laser Genesis feels like gentle, moving warmth. Topical numbing is available for sensitive areas.

Who's a candidate

  • Anyone with sun damage, age spots, or uneven pigment on the chest, back, shoulders, arms, hands, or legs
  • Those with post-inflammatory marks from old breakouts, rashes, bites, or friction
  • People wanting smoother texture or less redness on body skin
  • Clients who prefer non-surgical treatment with minimal downtime
  • Those committed to sun protection during the treatment course

What we screen for

  • Recent sun exposure or an active tan in the treatment area — energy settings or timing may be adjusted.
  • Pregnancy, photosensitizing medications, and recent isotretinoin use.
  • Active infections or open lesions in the area — treatment is deferred until resolved.

Every treatment is performed by a licensed medical provider after an individual evaluation — meet the team.

Recovery, by platform

  • IPL: little to no downtime. Treated spots darken briefly — a sign the light found its target — then flake away over 5–10 days. Normal activities resume right after.
  • PICO Genesis: mild redness or swelling typically settles within hours to a day.
  • Laser Genesis: no downtime — return to your day immediately, with mild warmth or pinkness fading within hours.

The first week

  • Daily broad-spectrum SPF on treated areas is non-negotiable — body skin is photosensitive after treatment, and Miami sun will re-deposit the pigment you just cleared. Chest and hands need it most.
  • Don't pick at darkened spots — they lift on their own.
  • Skip hot tubs, saunas, and aggressive exfoliation on the treated area until the skin settles.

Long-term maintenance

Body skin clears pigment and remodels collagen more slowly than the face, so results build across a series and consistency is rewarded. Most plans pair a 3–5 session series with sun-protection habits and an annual maintenance session — especially for hands and chest, which keep getting sun.

Part of a complete body plan

Body laser sessions slot naturally alongside the rest of our body menu. Common pairings:

  • Morpheus8 Body handles the depth work lasers don't — skin laxity, crepey texture, stretch marks, and indented scarring — while lasers clear the surface pigment above it.
  • Laser hair removal often runs in the same plan: clients treating pigment on the legs or underarms frequently bundle hair reduction in alternating sessions.
  • Sclerotherapy for leg spider veins — light-based treatment helps small surface vessels, but injection remains the workhorse for leg veins, and we offer both.
  • Lasers for Face — most pigment patterns don't stop at the jawline; face, neck, and décolleté are commonly treated as one continuous plan.
  • EmSculpt NEO and truSculpt iD for clients whose body goals include tone and contour, not just skin quality.

Sequencing matters — some pairings happen the same day, others alternate between sessions. Your plan is built at the consultation.

Not sure which platform your skin needs? Bring your concern, not a device name. A consultation maps your skin tone, the areas involved, and your timeline to the right plan — IPL, PICO Genesis, Laser Genesis, or a staged combination — and you'll leave with an itemized quote, not a hard sell.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

We treat the chest and décolleté, shoulders, back, arms, hands, and legs — plus other body areas with tone or texture concerns. Treatment is planned and priced by area.

As a rule of thumb: IPL for sun damage, age spots, and redness across larger areas; PICO Genesis for stubborn or deeper pigment and uneven tone, including darker skin tones; Laser Genesis for texture, redness, and overall skin quality with no downtime. Your consultation confirms the fit.

Body areas start at $300 per session — IPL for the hands, shoulders, neck, or décolleté is $300, with larger areas like the back and full legs priced by size. Three-session packages are discounted on every platform. See the pricing page for every area.

Little to none for most protocols. Mild redness fades within hours to a day, and treated pigment often darkens briefly before flaking away over 5 to 10 days. Laser Genesis has no downtime at all.

Most clients see meaningful improvement after 2 to 3 sessions, with a series of 3 to 5 as the typical plan. Body skin clears pigment and rebuilds collagen more slowly than the face, so consistency between sessions is rewarded.

Discomfort is minimal. IPL and PICO pulses feel like quick rubber-band snaps — often easier to tolerate on body skin than on the face — and Laser Genesis feels like gentle warmth. Topical numbing is available for sensitive areas.

Yes, with the right device. Picosecond lasers have published safety data in Fitzpatrick types IV to VI, and Nd:YAG (Laser Genesis) is one of the best-studied wavelengths for deeper complexions. Classic IPL works best on fair to medium tones — device selection happens at the consultation.

Yes — the backs of the hands are one of the most common body areas we treat. IPL clears scattered sun spots efficiently at $300 per session, and PICO Genesis handles stubborn or deeper spots.

Yes. The chest, décolleté, and shoulders collect years of Miami sun, and IPL treats scattered spots and redness across these broader areas efficiently — often with visible change after the first session.

Yes — those marks are post-inflammatory pigment rather than true scars, and they respond well to laser clearing, with PICO Genesis preferred for deeper or stubborn marks. For indented scarring, we may recommend RF microneedling alongside or instead.

Lasers can soften the discoloration of newer stretch marks, but the texture component usually calls for Morpheus8 Body, which remodels the skin at depth. Many plans combine the two — our stretch marks guide compares the options.

Small surface vessels can respond to light-based treatment, but for most leg spider veins sclerotherapy remains the more effective option — we offer it in the same Brickell office and will route you to whichever fits your veins.
