Sculptra is not a gel that fills a spot — it is poly-L-lactic acid, a collagen biostimulator. Injected into areas of volume loss, it prompts your skin to gradually build its own collagen over the following weeks and months. The defining traits:

• Gradual. There is no dramatic next-day change. Results build over roughly six to twelve weeks per session, which is exactly why nobody can point to the week you "had work done."
• Diffuse. Sculptra excels at overall facial volume — temples, cheeks, the hollowing that comes with age or rapid weight loss — rather than sharp definition of one feature.
• A short series. Most plans involve two to three sessions spaced about four to six weeks apart.
• Duration: results commonly last up to about two years, because the volume is your own collagen rather than a product that gets metabolized away in months.
