During the procedure the ink in the top layer of the skin's surface will be removed by breaking it apart into smaller particles so that they are dissolved and the body is able to absorb them.

Anyone who has a tattoo that they regret or no longer desire to have a specific tattoo, or a tattoo in a location that is preventing the ability to obtain certain jobs.
The Enlighten III laser has the ability to work on different skin types due to ability to change the wavelength to target several colors. Because this machine has multiple different wavelengths of color with the ability to remove a broader range of colors, such as greens and blues, which are harder to remove with older treatment options.
In order to give you accurate removal pricing one of our nurses need to see the tattoo. The cost is based on the size of the tattoo and the number of sessions required.
This includes the ink color used, the amount, density, age of the tattoo, professional/amateur, body location. Therefore it is very difficult to quote you over the phone.

Yes, shave the treatment area before the session.
The number of treatments is dependent on a variety of factors such as: depth of the tattoo, colors in the tattoo, and age of the tattoo. Some low-density older or faded tattoos may clear in as few as 2-3 sessions.
Newer, dark, high-density tattoos may require more sessions. Not all tattoos will fully clear. Tattoos located on limbs and extremities will take more sessions based on distance from the heart.
If treating tattoo ink in scar tissue (including scarring associated with the tattoo placement), higher frequencies and more sessions may be required.
For the most part, the tattoo will be completely removed with the laser therapy, however colors such as green and blue are more difficult to completely remove, but have much better results with the enlighten laser than previous treatments.
The tattoo may also be lightened without full removal if you are considering having a coverup. If you want the coverup to have a better outcome with lightening the previous tattoo. The Enlighten laser has superior precision, which means that you may also have a portion of your tattoo removed, while leaving the rest in place.
Most people must be at least 18 or older to obtain a tattoo. However in some circumstances, parents may sign for a tattoo as young as 16 in which case teenagers would be eligible for tattoo removal.
- You should not use suntan or use self-tanners for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment.
- Avoid treatments that may irritate the skin (depilatories, harsh chemicals, etc.) for 1-2 weeks prior to treatment.
- Ensure that the treatment area is clean and shaved.
Laser tattoo removal sessions should be scheduled at least 6-8 weeks apart to allow the skin to be fully healed prior to re-treatment. 8-10 weeks is the minimum recommended interval.
For laser treatments extended time in between sessions may improve response by allowing fragmented ink to re-aggregate.
During the procedure, mild discomfort is noted, and it is typically described as a rubber band snapping against the skin. If this is more than discomfort and you do not feel comfortable, a topical anesthetic cream or gel is available and may be applied in order to complete the procedure.
For larger tattoos there will be discomfort and anesthesia is recommended for those with a lower pain tolerance to decrease discomfort.
The use of ice can also help ease any discomfort and reduce both swelling and redness that may appear on the area treated.
The effects of laser tattoo removal are permanent.
Avoid sun exposure until the area is fully healed, which usually takes between 2 to 4 weeks following the laser tattoo removal treatment session.
If you must go out in the sun, please cover the area until healed and use a broad spectrum sunscreen.
Results can be seen after the first treatment, and should continue to be seen with every treatment thereafter.
- Post-cool the treatment area with an ice pack for increased comfort.
- Avoid sun exposure for 2 to 4 weeks following treatment, and use a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen.
- Avoid skin irritants until the skin is fully healed and all crusting has resolved.
- Dress the area with Aquafor® or simple petroleum and cover it with a bandage.
- Dressing should be changed once a day or after a shower in the first three days of treatment. Prior to removing the dressing, wash hands with soap and water.
- Carefully remove the dressing, gently cleanse the area with soap and water, and pat dry with a clean towel.
- Try not to bump or stretch treated tattoo.
- Do not pick scabs, and avoid scrubbing the treated area when bathing.
- Do not unroof blisters if they occur. If the blisters are uncomfortable contact your physician.
- Only non-aspirin, over-the-counter pain drugs, such as acetaminophen, should be taken for discomfort after the laser treatment.
Scabbing over the treatment area is also expected and may last 7-14 days. If this occurs, do not pick scabs, and avoid scrubbing the treated area when bathing, gently cleanse the area with soap and water, and pat dry with a clean towel.
All normal activities may be resumed right after treatment as long as the skin is protected from UV light.
Contact the physician's office if any of the following occur:
- Bleeding that soaks the dressing, or bleeding that happens after the first 24 hours
- Increased redness or swelling
- Uncomfortable blisters
- Yellowish or greenish drainage
- Persistent pain that last more than 24 hours
- Fever

How many sessions does it take to remove a tattoo?
Most tattoo's will require between 5 and 10 sessions to permanently remove the tattoo. The bigger the tattoo the more sessions will be required.
The number of sessions is also dependent on the technology within the laser used. The more expensive the session the better the laser being used will be.
How long after laser tattoo removal will tattoo fade?
The tattoo will start to fade 1-3 weeks after the treatment. The fading of the tattoo will continue for 4-12 weeks depending on the quality of the machine.
