Cellulite treatment in Miami, run like medicine
Looking for a cellulite treatment clinic rather than a cellulite spa treatment? We treat cellulite like every medical-aesthetic concern: grade it, photograph it, measure the change. The goal is a visible reduction in cellulite and dimpled skin texture — see outcomes in our results gallery.

Everything you'd ask at the consult
Why cellulite forms
Cellulite is caused by fat deposits pushing through the connective tissue beneath the skin, creating a dimpled, uneven texture — most often on the thighs, buttocks, abdomen, and upper arms. Between 80–90% of women have cellulite somewhere, while only about 10% of men do, and it affects many women who are fit and healthy. Three factors drive it: skin becomes thinner as you age, fat cells grow and push against the skin, and the fibrous bands connecting the skin to the fascia thicken and pull the surface down.
It concentrates on women's thighs and buttocks for structural reasons: hormonal fluctuations tied to the menstrual cycle affect circulation and lymph flow, and women carry three layers of fat — versus the single layer in men — in the buttocks, thighs, knees, stomach, and tricep area. That architecture is why diet and exercise alone often cannot improve the appearance of cellulite, and why creams rarely help. For the full evidence review, see our in-depth cellulite guide.
How we grade it
Every patient is graded on the Nürnberger–Müller scale, from Grade 0 (no dimpling) to Grade 3 (dimpling visible both standing and lying down). The grade — plus the depth and location of your dimples — determines which technology leads your plan.
How treatment reverses it
Cellutone® uses targeted acoustic wave therapy and therapeutic vibrations to break down fat, disrupt the fibrous bands, and stimulate collagen production in the deeper layers of the skin. New collagen rebuilds skin firmness from below, so the surface reads smoother and more rejuvenated.
Thighs & buttocks
The most common request — and where dimpling runs deepest. A Cellutone series smooths texture across both areas; for patients who also have loose skin, we layer skin-tightening technology into the same plan.
Abdomen, love handles & hips
Where dimpling overlaps with stubborn fat, treating only the surface undersells the result. We pair Cellutone with fat-and-tone treatments so the contour improves alongside the texture — part of a complete body-contouring plan.
Arms & legs
Cellulite on legs and upper arms responds well to acoustic wave cellulite therapy; crepey texture in the same areas often benefits from collagen-stimulating treatments layered into the series.
What this page isn't
Stretch marks are a different structural problem — torn dermis rather than tethered bands — and usually respond best to RF microneedling at depth; see our stretch marks guide.
Cellutone® — our primary cellulite treatment
Cellutone, by BTL Aesthetics, is a non-invasive acoustic wave device that improves skin texture and smooths contours by stimulating natural processes in the deeper layers of the skin. Sessions take about 30 minutes, most clients complete 4–6, and more pronounced cellulite may call for 8–12 — with no downtime at any point.
Body-contouring support
Emsculpt Neo builds muscle and reduces fat with HIFEM plus radiofrequency; TruSculpt iD delivers RF fat reduction. Neither treats the dimpling itself — cellulite is a tethering problem, not a fat problem — but firming the foundation underneath often makes the smoothing result read better, which is why plans frequently combine them.
QWO — discontinued, but worth understanding
Deep-seated cellulite once required invasive procedures to release the tension in the fibrous bands, with laser therapy used for less severe cellulite — both surgical and laser cellulite treatments work by breaking up those tough bands. QWO, the first FDA-approved injectable cellulite treatment, did the same with enzymes for the deep, fixed dimples of the thighs and buttocks. Its manufacturer discontinued it in 2023; the FAQ below keeps the full background.
Devices we're asked about
Emtone — BTL's combined radiofrequency-plus-pressure-energy platform — treats the same concern as Cellutone, and Avéli (sometimes written Aveli) is a minimally invasive subcision device that releases fibrous bands one dimple at a time. If your cellulite pattern calls for an approach we don't perform in-house, we'll say so at the consultation.
How many sessions you'll need
Most clients complete 4–6 Cellutone sessions; for more pronounced cellulite, 8–12 sessions are recommended for optimal results. Appointments run 30 to 60 minutes depending on the areas treated — the Cellutone portion itself takes about 30 minutes.
When results appear
Most clients notice smoother skin after the first session, with gradual improvement continuing as the body processes and eliminates treated fat cells and rebuilds collagen.
How long they last
Results can last several months to years with a healthy lifestyle. Long-lasting results come from consistent care — many clients book periodic maintenance sessions.
Comfort during treatment
Cellulite reduction here is non-invasive — no needles, no anesthesia, no incisions. Most clients describe sessions as pain-free, feeling rhythmic pressure and mild warmth, with mild redness the most common after-effect.
Who it's for
- Those wanting smoother, firmer skin without invasive surgery
- People wanting to reduce cellulite appearance on specific areas
- Anyone seeking a non-invasive, comfortable procedure with no recovery time
- Those committed to maintaining results through a healthy lifestyle
What we screen for
- Pregnancy or plans to become pregnant — treatment is deferred.
- Active skin infections or open lesions in the treatment area.
- Recent surgery near the treatment area, and conditions or medications that affect healing or clotting — reviewed individually.
Every treatment at Miami Skin Spa is performed by a licensed provider after an individual evaluation — meet the team.
Right after your session
Return to your daily routine immediately — there is no downtime. Mild redness or tenderness subsides within a few hours; hydration and regular movement support the lymphatic flow that helps clear treated fat.
Keeping results
A healthy diet and consistent care maintain your improvements; periodic maintenance sessions extend them.
What we pair it with
- Morpheus8 Body — RF microneedling at depths up to 8 mm for skin tightening when laxity or crepey texture accompanies the dimpling.
- Forma — needle-free radiofrequency tightening with zero downtime, a comfortable maintenance partner.
- Emsculpt Neo and TruSculpt iD — muscle building and fat reduction beneath the smoothing work.
- Medical weight loss — cellulite is not a weight problem, but body-composition change can shift how dimpling reads.
Sequencing matters — some pairings share a visit, others alternate. Your plan is built at the consultation.
Not sure which technology your cellulite needs? Bring your concern, not a device name. A consultation grades your dimpling and maps it to the right plan — Cellutone on its own, or layered with Emsculpt Neo or TruSculpt iD.
Cellulite treatments compared
The difference between these options is mechanism — releasing dimples, reducing fat, building muscle, or tightening skin. We offer every in-house option below, so the recommendation is based on your cellulite, not the device we happen to own.
| Treatment | How it works | Best for | Downtime | Sessions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cellutone® | Targeted acoustic waves disrupt fibrous bands and stimulate collagen | Dimpled texture on thighs, buttocks, abdomen, arms, legs | None | 4–12 |
| Emsculpt Neo | HIFEM muscle contractions plus RF fat reduction | Building muscle and reducing fat beneath the surface | None | 4+ |
| TruSculpt iD | Monopolar radiofrequency heats and reduces fat | Stubborn fat pockets shaping the contour | None | 1–2 |
| Morpheus8 Body | RF microneedling remodels skin at depths up to 8 mm | Laxity, crepey texture, and stretch marks alongside dimpling | 24–48 hours | 1–3 |
| QWO (discontinued 2023) | Injectable enzymes released the fibrous bands under deep dimples | Deep, fixed dimples on thighs and buttocks | Bruising 1–2 weeks | Up to 3 |

Cellulite is caused by fat deposits pushing through the connective tissue under the skin, leading to a dimpled appearance. It affects many women, even those who are fit and healthy — between 80–90% of women have cellulite somewhere on their bodies, while only about 10% of men do.
Our treatments use technologies like Cellutone® to break down fat cells and stimulate collagen production for smoother skin, while Emsculpt Neo and TruSculpt iD build muscle tone and reduce the underlying fat shaping the treated area.
No — our cellulite reduction treatments are non-invasive and designed to be comfortable. Most clients describe sessions as pain-free, with no discomfort or recovery time required.
Typically 8–12 sessions are recommended for optimal results with Cellutone®. Emsculpt Neo and TruSculpt iD plans may achieve results in fewer sessions.
No, you can return to your daily activities immediately after treatment. Any mild redness or tenderness resolves within a few hours.
Results can last several months to years depending on your body and lifestyle. Consistent care and a healthy diet help maintain your improvements.
Each Cellutone session typically lasts about 30 minutes.
No — Cellutone treatments are comfortable, and most clients describe them as pain-free.
For optimal results, most clients require 4–6 sessions. More pronounced cellulite may call for a longer series of 8–12 sessions.
Results are often visible after the first session, with full results after a series of treatments.
Side effects are minimal, with mild redness being the most common, which usually resolves within a few hours.
Yes, Cellutone has no downtime, so you can resume your day immediately.
No. An anti-cellulite massage temporarily boosts circulation and smooths skin for a day or two. Cellutone delivers targeted acoustic wave energy at intensities hands can't reach, working the fibrous bands and collagen beneath the skin — improvement builds over a series instead of fading by the weekend.
Both are BTL devices used for cellulite therapy. Emtone pairs radiofrequency heat with targeted pressure energy in one applicator; Cellutone focuses the mechanical energy alone. Similar session counts, same concern — we recommend based on your skin, dimple depth, and goals.
QWO was the first and only FDA-approved injectable cellulite treatment, breaking down the build-up of collagen in the fibrous bands beneath the skin while creating new collagen — smoother, younger-looking skin within three months of treatment. Its manufacturer discontinued QWO in 2023; we now treat deep dimples with the technologies above.
QWO was the first injectable formulated for deep dimples — previously impossible to release without surgery. Two enzymes in its formula degrade collagen molecules: injected beneath a cellulite dimple, QWO broke down the collagen-rich fibrous bands while stimulating new collagen, further smoothing the skin.
QWO was intended for the deep dimples of the thighs and buttocks — not the stomach or arms. Cellulite concentrates there in women because hormonal fluctuations of the menstrual cycle affect circulation and lymph flow, and women have three layers of fat (men have one) in the buttocks, thighs, knees, stomach, and tricep area.
When QWO was available, anyone — man or woman — with deep cellulite in the thighs or buttocks could be a candidate, unless they had an active infection at the injection site, a bleeding problem, or were pregnant or nursing; blood-clotting medicines (antiplatelets, anticoagulants) also ruled it out. We apply the same screening to today's plans.
QWO typically caused injection-site bruising for one to two weeks after the first treatment, plus mild to moderate soreness, swelling, and pain manageable with Tylenol or ibuprofen; areas of hardness, itching, redness, and discoloration also occurred. Signs of an allergic reaction — hives, trouble breathing, low blood pressure, a swollen face, chest pain, dizziness, or fainting — meant contacting a doctor straight away.
In trials, results appeared as early as three weeks and kept improving. Patients could receive up to three treatments, spaced 3 weeks apart, and some trials showed QWO effective for one to two years. Results varied with skin type, weight, and cellulite severity.
While on the market, each QWO treatment cost between $500 and $1,200 — up to about $3,600 for moderate cases needing two or three rounds. Since its discontinuation, we quote Cellutone and combination plans individually; see our pricing page.
It depends on the technology, the areas, and the number of sessions, so we confirm pricing at your consultation with a clear, itemized quote. Miami Skin Spa may be able to offer financial assistance — ask at your consultation, and see our pricing page for current rates and specials.
