What a Morpheus8 session looks like
Everything you'd ask at the consult
RF energy + microneedling, working at depth
Morpheus8 is a fractional skin treatment that combines precision microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) energy to remodel the skin from within. The handpiece uses an array of ultra-fine, gold-plated microneedles to deliver controlled RF energy at precise, adjustable depths — up to 4 mm for facial treatments and up to 8 mm for body applications — creating micro-injuries that trigger your skin's natural collagen and elastin production. It belongs to the same family of radiofrequency microneedling treatments as Secret RF, a platform our team has used for years to remodel collagen at controlled depths.
The two technologies amplify each other. RF energy delivers controlled heat deep into the dermal layers where collagen and elastin reside: it contracts existing collagen fibers for immediate skin tightening, then stimulates new collagen production that replaces damaged collagen over time. The microneedles handle the surface: micro-injuries boost cellular turnover, improving texture, tone, and scarring.
Customized dermal remodeling
- Adjustable needle depth — treatment depth is tuned to the area and the depth of the condition we're treating; body treatments reach 8 mm to target deeper layers.
- Selectable needle type — a combination of non-insulated and semi-insulated needles lets our team treat a wide range of applications across all skin types, including challenging skin.
- Epidermis-sparing design — energy is delivered below the surface through the needles, which reduces downtime compared with resurfacing treatments that remove the outer skin layers.
Face tightening & jawline definition
The most popular reason patients come to us for Morpheus8 is firming: contracting and rebuilding collagen tightens loose or sagging skin through the lower face, jawline, chin, and neck — the tighten-and-lift result most people are after, without surgery. After completing a recommended regimen, RF microneedling can help postpone the need for more invasive procedures, including a face lift, for years.
Acne scars, scar removal & texture
Because the needles deliver energy at the depth where scar tissue sits, Morpheus8 is one of the strongest non-surgical options for acne scars and uneven texture. If you're searching for scar removal, this is usually where we start: rolling and boxcar scars respond especially well to remodeling at depth, and the same mechanism smooths fine lines and wrinkles from the inside out.
Body concerns
With the larger body tip, the same platform treats stretch marks — on average we see about an 85–90% reduction after 4 treatments — plus cellulite and crepey skin on the abdomen, thighs, and arms. It can even reduce excessive sweating by targeting glands in the underarms, palms, or feet.
Safe for all skin tones
Unlike many lasers, Morpheus8 doesn't target pigment, so it's safe and effective for deeper skin tones — including patients managing melasma, where heat-based treatments normally require extra caution.
How many sessions you'll need
Most clients see optimal results after 1–3 sessions, spaced roughly 4–6 weeks apart, though this varies based on individual skin concerns and goals. Deeper acne scarring or significant laxity may call for a longer series — your provider maps this out at the consultation.
When results appear
Some improvement is visible within a few days as contracted collagen firms the skin. The real change builds over 3–6 months as your body produces new collagen and remodels the treated tissue. With proper skincare and maintenance, results can last 12 to 18 months.
Each appointment
- Topical numbing cream is applied first — plan for 30–45 minutes of numbing time.
- The treatment itself takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area.
- You leave the same day; most patients return to normal activities within 24–48 hours.
Why it suits all skin types
Morpheus8's energy is delivered below the surface through the microneedles rather than absorbed by pigment, which is why it's suitable for all skin tones and types — a meaningful advantage over many resurfacing lasers for deeper complexions, where pigment-targeting treatments carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Comfort during treatment
A topical anesthetic is applied before every session, so most patients feel only mild pressure or warmth during the procedure rather than pain.
Who's a candidate
You may be an ideal candidate for Morpheus8 if you:
- Seek non-surgical skin rejuvenation and tightening
- Want to improve skin texture, firmness, and elasticity
- Are dealing with wrinkles, acne scars, or stretch marks
- Want a versatile treatment that works on both face and body
- Want to reduce excessive sweating in the underarms, palms, or feet
What we screen for
- Active skin infections, cold-sore outbreaks, or open lesions in the treatment area — treatment is deferred until resolved.
- Pregnancy, implanted electronic devices, and certain metal implants near the treatment area.
- Recent isotretinoin use, keloid-prone scarring, and conditions that impair wound healing — discussed individually.
Every treatment at Miami Skin Spa is performed by a licensed medical provider after an individual evaluation — meet the team.
The first 48 hours
Mild redness or swelling is normal and typically subsides within 24–48 hours — most clients resume daily activities shortly after treatment. Keep the skin clean, skip makeup for the first day, and avoid touching the treated area while the micro-channels close.
The first week
- Avoid intense exercise, saunas, and direct sun exposure for about a week.
- Use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer; pause retinoids, acids, and exfoliants until the skin settles.
- Daily broad-spectrum SPF is non-negotiable — new collagen is building and Miami sun is unforgiving.
Long-term maintenance
Results continue improving for 3–6 months. Once your series is complete, a maintenance session once or twice a year — often paired with medical-grade skincare — keeps collagen production ahead of the aging curve.
What we pair it with
Morpheus8 is one of several tools we use for comprehensive skin remodeling. Depending on your goals, our team may recommend pairing or alternating it with:
- SkinPen microneedling for surface-level texture refinement without RF — often enough on its own for milder texture concerns.
- Forma for non-needled radiofrequency skin tightening — a comfortable, no-downtime option frequently used for maintenance after a Morpheus8 series.
- Morpheus8 Body for larger areas like the abdomen, thighs, and arms, where the deeper 8 mm tip does the work.
- Biostimulators like Sculptra to rebuild volume while Morpheus8 rebuilds skin quality — a common one-two for facial aging.
- A targeted chemical peel to refine tone alongside collagen remodeling.
Sequencing matters — some pairings happen in the same visit, others alternate between sessions. Your plan is built at the consultation.
Morpheus8 vs the alternatives
All four remodel collagen — the difference is depth, mechanism, and downtime. We offer every option below, so the recommendation is based on your skin, not the device we happen to own.
| Treatment | How it works | Best for | Downtime | Skin tones |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Morpheus8 | RF energy through microneedles at adjustable depths up to 4 mm (face) | Skin laxity, acne scars, jawline definition, deeper texture | 24–48 hours | All skin tones |
| SkinPen microneedling | Fine needles alone prompt collagen at the skin's surface | Milder texture concerns, fine lines, maintenance | 24–48 hours | All skin tones |
| Forma RF | Non-needled bulk radiofrequency heating of the dermis | Comfortable no-downtime tightening, post-series maintenance | None | All skin tones |
| Laser resurfacing | Light energy removes or heats the outer skin layers | Surface tone, sun damage, pigment correction | Several days+ | Caution in deeper tones |

Results can last 12 to 18 months with proper skincare and maintenance. Collagen continues building for 3–6 months after your series, and a maintenance session once or twice a year extends results further.
Traditional microneedling uses needles alone at the skin's surface; Morpheus8 adds radiofrequency energy at adjustable depths, which can make it more effective for acne scars and skin laxity. Standard microneedling may be enough for milder texture concerns.
Morpheus8 works below the surface and suits all skin tones with generally less downtime; laser resurfacing treats the outer layers and may need more recovery. We'll recommend based on your skin and goals.
